Yes the RTS community has current and retired railroad employees but only a certain percentage of the overall community. So how many people really care about physics anyways? I appreciate it, but it never was about the physics for me. For the record no other sim out there can do it either even to this day. To do it in MSTS would not only be difficult but lack many features Run8 provides. I wanted an engine that could take car forwarding and apply it to a 3d simulator. For me Run8 was an easy choice to back because of my goals of RTS. MP at least anything that means anything to me. Being the 1st operating hump comes to mind. I admit it's frustrating, but knowing something else is out there that could potentially steal an idea I suppose I know why.īeing the 1st to offer something has it's advantages. I mean there are times I really want to know what and when something is coming for Run8. I guess I don't give them enough credit for this, because there is always someone who thinks they are better coming around the corner. Here is what I know Brad and the boys are very protective of their intelectual property. If I wanted to see what a certain area looked like I could always use YouTube. So I never really needed to go back to eye candy. Trainz didn't do nearly enough what I wanted to do at the time. I know some people do it, but Run8 enhanced everything I ever wanted in a sim since MSTS. Now I suppose there is now harm in running more than 1 sim. If the future of train simulation is coiming, who's future are you talking about?
But here lies the issue I have with this tag line. I'll take AI any day over chirping birds and rocks in the water any day. What is substance to him is different to me. So do some adults, and yes running the same route over and over again with little to no traffic can even bore me. Now granted he is right, he is also a kid and they get bored easy. He said because I like to build things, you can't do that in Run8. My rebuttal to that was your Thomas set doesn't have anything close to that so why do you still do stuff with it. He says it's not real because it doesn't have rocks in the water, and mud, and wildlife, nature, etc. My son who will be 7 in July and loves trains finds Run8 boring. So we know the eye candy will be good, thats nice. But other than a couple of cars coupling, and seeing someting run into a pile of bricks not much to show to me. They boasted the unreal? graphics engine which was impressive. It also had everything that no other sim had. I got word that a new sim was in development, and it boasted to have all the physics if not better. Now granted I was curious and I had to check it out. I'm not sure if the subject it the tag line I heard, but it made me laugh.
